2 Chainz Pays Tribute To Black Designer, Miguel Wilson, On New LP

Multi-platinum Def Jam recording artist/entrepreneur 2 Chainz celebrates black fashion, enlists popular menswear designer Miguel Wilson for his new sixth studio album, So Help Me God. On the track, “Southside Hov,” the “I’m Different” hitmaker honors the designer for his iconic contribution to the culture with the verse: “I’ve got Riverdale in my nails. The suit from Miguel fits me well. Eating lentil soup, on a health kick. About to sell ‘Most Expensivest’ to Netflix.”

Miguel Wilson, a designer with showrooms in Atlanta, Miami and D.C., has dressed 2 Chainz for many special occasions including his wedding day which took place in 2018 at the Versace Mansion in Miami. He also dressed all of 2 Chainz’s groomsmen for the wedding which included fellow rapper Lil Wayne.

Wilson on working with 2 Chainz:

“I really appreciate 2 Chainz for giving me this shoutout. Nowadays, many rappers only mention luxury brands like Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Versace, and Tom Ford, but forget to acknowledge black designers. It’s truly groundbreaking and revolutionary that 2 Chainz wrote a verse about me, a black designer. He’s been so supportive, paying for all the clothes I’ve made for him, even his wedding attire. It shows his social consciousness and using his platform to promote black businesses. I hope more people follow his lead.”
