The Time for Action is Now
The deaths of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd are horrific and truly unfortunate. There is clear footage of both of these men being murdered for no reason at all. Ahmad Arbery was followed by two white men that shot and killed him while he was going out for a jog. Geroge Floyd had a police officer kneeling on his kneck for eight-minutes until he passed away, as multiple other officers idly stood by. As disturbing as these events were, they are sadly far from the first of their kind.
Police brutality and racism have been far too intertwined with America’s past and present. These issues continue to persist, but that does not mean that you can not fight against this injustice. One of the ways that you can help in the fight against police brutality is by donating to organizations that are supporting protestors.

3. George Floyd & Ahmaud Arbery GoFundMes
The tragic passings of Geroge Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery have made it so people can no longer continue to ignore racism and police brutality. The donations for the George Floyd GoFundMe will help his family cover funeral and burial expenses along with a few other forms of support. Whereas the profits from Ahmaud Arbery GoFundMe will provide financial support for his family during these trying times as well as funds to help bring justice to Arbery’s death.
2. The National Bail Fund Network
There are several groups out there that raise funds to bail out people who have been arrested while protesting police brutality. The National Bail Fund Network has compiled a list of organizations across the country that are bailing out protestors. There’s even a section for Pennsylvania that includes Philadelphia.
Along with using the funds to bail out protestors, the National Bail Fund Network has a Coronavirus rapid response fund. Check out their website to see where you can donate.
1. Communities United Against Police Brutality (CUAPB)
Sadly during these protests, there has been even more police brutality. The Communities United Against Police Brutality is a group that people can call to report abuse committed by officers. The organization offers legal, medical, and psychological resource referrals for those affected by police brutality. Follow this link to make a donation to CUAPB.
Final Thoughts
The fight to end police brutality and racism within the United States has been a hard-fought battle that must continue. You would think such basic human rights for all would have been achieved at this point in time, but this country still has a lot of work to do. Donations to causes that support people protesting police brutality is a great way to help, but there are still several other ways to get involved.
If you feel safe doing so go out there and stand up for what you believe in by protesting. Other possible ways to help include demanding political change from your legislators, donating supplies to protestors, as well as joining a cleanup effort in your area.
