She arrived on the red carpet in a custom Schiaparelli haute couture look. Sporting strings of 50,000 freshwater pearls and 16,000 crystals. Her outfit required a team of one-dozen artisans more than 1,000 hours to complete.

Kim Kardashian’s makeup was simple yet elegant, with glazed nude lip color, a light smoky eye shadow and subtle shimmer for the evening. Her hair was center-parted, and she finished her look with a gorgeous updo that featured face-framing layers of makeup.
The glitzy ensemble was a nod to the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died last month. He was famous for incorporating pearls into his designs, and it’s easy to see why.

Besides being a nod to Lagerfeld, this year’s theme was “In American: An Anthology of Fashion.” Kardashian paid homage by wearing a replica of Marilyn Monroe’s famed crystal “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” gown.
But her glam wasn’t just about the historic gown she donned on the Met Gala, which was on loan from Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Her look sparked controversy, with many fans calling it an ode to her infamous 2007 Playboy magazine photoshoot.
While this year’s gown evoked memories of her 2007 look, some were quick to remind her that it wasn’t the first time she’s gone completely naked on the red carpet!
Ahead of the gala, she teasingly teased her look on Instagram, showing off the off-white skirt and the molded corset in a blush satin. She added a bone whitewashed faille stole and a shimmering choker necklace, and accessorized with pearl drop earrings and an articulated ring.

The ethereal ensemble finished off with a pair of strappy heels and a sleek, centre-parted updo with face-framing bangs for her final step in glamour. She also wore a glazed nude lip shade, kohl-lined eyes, winged eyeliner, and mascara on her lashes.
Kardashian even had her nine-year-old daughter North West by her side, though she didn’t make a grand entrance on the carpet. She accompanied her mother on the car ride to the gala and stayed in her car with her while her mom posed up a storm.
