Every year, the BET Awards 2022 come out with the biggest performances, the best dresses and the even bigger “Ah Ha” moments. While there were several memorable moments from in 2021 to choose from, this year’s show offered more. Everything from Saucy Santana’s BET Awards red carpet performance to the out-of-this world performances by stars like Ella Mai and legendary R&B singer Babyface, the show had it all. When it comes to award shows, there’s never a short supply of entertainment. Most times, stars like to get the party started on the red carpet with their designer gowns and hip performances. While the BET Awards 2022 red carpet show had much to offer, most of the action happened during the ceremony. Black culture took center stage at the Los Angeles Microsoft Theater on Sunday, June 27 at 8 pm ET. While there’s a wealth of awesome moments to choose from, here are 7 unforgettable moments:
One of the biggest surprises of the night happened when the “No Love” crooner Summer Walker walked the BET Awards 2022 red carpet in a designer, two-piece gold ensemble. Of course, the outfit didn’t leave very much to the imagination, as the outfit left the R&B singer completely exposed. Not to mention, it showed her very visible baby bump. According to sources, Walker is expecting baby number two with current boyfriend LVRD Pharaoh. Apparently, Walker copped Rihanna’s pregnancy-fashion style by baring it all for people to see.
While some celebrities had baby news to air out, “Nail Tech” rapper Jack Harlow made a different appearance altogether. Instead of wearing designer clothes, the rapper opted for a shirt with Lil Nas X’s face printed on the front. Apparently, Harlow protested against the BET Awards 2022 show for leaving Lil Nas X’s name out of the nominee’s list. Clearly, Jack Harlow’s not just a great collaborator, he’s also a really good friend.
Though, Jack Harlow’s time in the spotlight didn’t end with his political agenda. During his live performance of “First Class” the Kentucky rapper, R&B singer Brandy joined him on stage. Previously, Harlow faced backlash after mistaking another artist for one of Brandy’s songs. Furthermore, social media accused the Kentucky rapper of being one of the many “white rappers who don’t educate themselves about black culture.” Though, the moment prompted the two artists to join forces during last night’s live performance. Unfortunately, Jack Harlow and Brandy’s performance seemed more like a staged PR moment, rather than a genuine one. Let’s just say that Brandy’s rap verses left fans questioning the network’s motives.
With Jack Harlow being in the hot seat, others like P. Diddy joined him soon after. During his acceptance speech of his “Lifetime Achievement ” Award, the Bad Boy Records CEO made some choice words that had many audiences gawking at him. The rap mogul thanked everyone that helped him navigate the industry. Though, he seemingly went down his entire list of past lovers who helped him stay afloat. In particular, P. Diddy spent a little too much time crediting singer Cassie for helping him through “a very dark time in his life.” Clearly, he’s still hung up on her despite it being his “Lifetime Achievement Award” moment. Though, Diddy’s current lover Yung Miami remained all smiles as she held up a sign that read “Go Papi!” at the front of the crowd. Social media clearly wasn’t happy with P. Diddy’s behavior toward the City Girls rapper.

Fellow rap mogul, Kanye West delivered a speech that pertained to his love life as well. Ahead of presenting P. Diddy, with the “Lifetime Achievement” Award, the rapper joked how Diddy impacted his marriage to Kim Kardashian. Jokes aside though, West’s outfit is what really had the Internet talking. The “Heartbreaker” rapper covered himself from head to toe, including his face and hands. The guy appeared unrecognizable.
The night continued with more interesting dress ensembles and the live performances to match. During her “Big Energy ” live performance, Latto sported a sharp cut bob and militant, embroidered one-piece that had fans going wild. Although, when the legendary Mariah Carey joined the artist on stage, the performance went to another level. Who doesn’t want to hear Carey’s whistle notes?

Of course, several live performances deserved an outstanding ovation. POSE actor Billy Porter killed the BET Awards 2022 show with his electric Ballroom Dance performance. A master of his craft, the singer, actor and dancer knows how to work a stage better than most runway models.
Next Year Will Top This Years’ Award Season
BET knows how to showcase the best in Black excellence. BET Awards 2022 lived up to the annual theme of being “Culture’s Biggest Night.” With so much to love, it’s arguably one of the best award shows on television. Of course, the network will find a way to outdo itself at next year’s award show.
