The 2023 Soul Train Award nominations are out, and it’s a three-way tie at the top. Beyoncé, SZA, and Usher are all nominated for nine awards each, making for a historic race.
Beyoncé, SZA, and Usher Lead the Pack in Historic Three-Way Tie
Beyoncé is the queen of the Soul Train Awards and will add to her tally this year. She stands out as a formidable candidate for Song of the Year with her chart-topping single, “Break My Soul,” and is also a strong contender for the title of Female Artist of the Year.
SZA is a breakout star, and her music has resonated with fans worldwide. She’s a strong contender for Album of the Year for her critically acclaimed album SOS and up for Song of the Year (for her smash hit “Good Days”) and Female Artist of the Year.
Usher is a veteran of the Soul Train Awards and is still one of the most famous artists in the R&B game. He’s nominated for Album of the Year for his latest album, Hard II Love, and up for Song of the Year (for his single “Good Good” with Summer Walker and 21 Savage) and Male Artist of the Year.

Here are my spicy predictions for the top Soul Train Awards:
- Song of the Year: SZA – Good Days
- Male Artist of the Year: Usher
- Female Artist of the Year: SZA
- Best New Artist: Coco Jones
The Soul Train Awards are always unpredictable, so anything is possible. But I think these artists have a good chance of taking home some hardware on November 26th.
