This offseason the Phillies picked up one of the biggest hitters in Major league baseball, Bryce Harper.
Harper signed a 13-year, 330 million deal with the Phillies this spring, and so far his popularity hasn’t wavered one bit. According to Espn, Harper’s jersey ended a two-year reign for Aaron Judges No. 99 jersey. Harper’s new No. 3 Phillies jersey set a professional sports record for most jerseys sold in 24 to 48 hours. According to online retailer Fanatics, Harper’s jersey has been number 1 since January 1st.
Harper overtook Judge, the New York Yankees’ 6-foot-7 slugger. Above all, he had topped the list since his breakout rookie season in 2017. Reigning American League MVP and World Series champion Mookie Betts of the Boston Red Sox are third, two-time AL MVP Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels is fourth, and veteran St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is fifth in figures released Thursday.
