Some celebrities’ careers continue to grow with each new opportunity. Recently, lyrical genius Common secured an opportunity that only upped his game. The rapper shared with his millions of fans that he made his Broadway debut in the play Between Riverside and Crazy. Not only can he rap but apparently, he’s a certified Broadway actor as well.
Common Goes On Broadway
Common may have secured a few acting gigs over the years. Though, he’s never been on Broadway before. Taking his career to new heights, the rapper jumped at the opportunity to make his debut appearance in the theater production of Between Riverside and Crazy.
Furthermore, the Pulitzer-Prize winning play is about a former New York city policeman whose career came to a devastating halt after he was shot by a white rookie cop. Common will star as his son that wants to turn his life around and make his old man proud. The play may be full of drama and thrill, but more importantly, it has heart.
The Rapper Loves This One Aspect About The Play
When it comes down to it, nobody loves New York city more than Common does. In fact, it’s one of the many reasons he jumped at the opportunity to star in the Broadway production. The rapper and actor noted that he loves that the play showcases the multi-cultural landscape of New York city.
“It truly embodies New York. It portrays the essence of New York life and its diverse inhabitants. No one is entirely good or bad, but in New York, you witness the harmonious blend of various people and cultures. It feels organic,” Common stated during the play’s recent official opening. Clearly, there’s a lot to love about the play. Not to mention, Common’s Broadway debut is something worth seeing.
