A convicted Rapist who was sentenced to life for molesting a 10-year-old girl was accidentally released from prison!!!
A man who was convicted of rape and was serving 3 life sentences is a free man. Someone in the Georgia correctional system made a huge mistake. Tony Maycon Munoz-Mendez was able to walk right out of Rodgers state prison in Reidsville Georgia.
Munoz-Mendez was convicted of Raping a 10-year-old girl in Lilburn Georgia. The judge, in that case, convicted him to three life sentences. The convicted rapist argued his innocence and even wrote a letter to the judge pleading to be released. Stating “I have no family here in the United States to help me out and I have to rely on myself on everything and it’s hard,” he wrote. “I know I’m innocent.”
Even more, The fact that the child molester was here illegally at the time of the crime only makes matters worse.
The Georgia department of corrections is now trying to fix the mess they made. They said they are going to use all of their resources to capture Munoz-Mendez. Furthermore, they have asked for the publics’ help and returning the rapist to his rightful place. In a statement, a representative said: “The priority of the GDC is apprehending the offender as quickly as possible and at this time we have all resources focused on the search,”
At this time the felon is still on the loose and police suggest cation if anyone sees him. Due to the fact, Munoz-Mendez is an immigrant he poses a higher flight risk so hopefully, authorities are able to capture him before he makes it across the border.
What do you guys think? Should someone lose their job for this mishap? Or Is this just a mistake that can be overlooked?
