It’s time to do the freak, the grind, the bump, the shake-your rump. The Proud Family is coming to Disney+. The revival of the series is coming sometime in February of 2022. It’s titled: The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
The Cast
Into this first look, the trailer released by Disney+ on Disney Plus Day is showing the main character in full. Having a star-studded special cast featuring artists such as:
- Brenda Song
- Eva Longoria
- Jaden Smith
- Jane Lynch
- Tiffany Haddish
- Billy Porter
- Leslie Odom Jr.
- Lil Nas X
- Keke Palmer
As well as reprising the role of Penny Proud would be Kyla Pratt. In a recent interview with E! News Pratt said how being the voice of Penny helped love her voice.
“I didn’t realize how much it was shaping me,” she said, “and also how much of my personality, you know, came through with playing Penny”.
Also telling the outlet, “I think I always grew up confused about people being bullied about certain things, because I was always like, ‘No! Stand up for yourself!’ And now as an adult, I feel like a lot of that came from, you know, helping portray that character.”
Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud and more of the original cast is to come. Moreover, if this wasn’t enough Zachary Quinto from American Horror Story, Gabrielle Union, and more are set to appear.
Originally created by Bruce W Smith. The series centers on Penny Proud a 14-year-old African-American girl and her dysfunctional family. The Proud Family became a huge hit because it revolved around Black characters, including valuable messages about cultural diversity.
Then as the plot thickens, we still have no idea of the complete storyline. But we believe it will follow Penny growing up and various mementos revolving around the Proud Family.
All the first episodes of the Proud Family are currently streaming on Disney+. Stay tuned for more of the family upcoming this next year.
