Everyone loves a good comeback. After 18 years, legendary rapper DMX plans to make his grand return to the HipHop scene with his upcoming ninth album. We can expect that X will deliver on the new project. No word on the album title yet, but we do know that X plans to collaborate with the hottest rap stars in the industry. DMX especially made it known that his upcoming song will feature a posthumous contribution from the late Pop Smoke. The “Big Woo” may have passed on but his memory still lives on in the HipHop industry.
DMX Features Pop Smoke In Upcoming Song
There’s nothing more endearing than seeing other artists carry on the memory of great talents. Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke left a huge mark on the rap scene and HipHop community that can never be replaced. Many artists have paid homage to the late rapper. Some even feature him on their tracks. Legendary rapper DMX announced that he plans to feature Pop Smoke on an upcoming track.
On Monday, Drinks Champs podcast released a snippet of an unreleased interview with DMX. The rapper talks with hosts N.O.R.E and DJ Efn about the new artists he plans to collaborate with. N.O.R.E offered young emcees like Lil Tjay and Meek Mill, but X quickly dismissed them. Instead, the 50-year-old will work with “new artists” like “Griselda Boys.” He also noted that a posthumous verse from Pop Smoke will appear on an upcoming track off his nineth album. “That’s what type of new I’m doing,” the legend told N.O.R.E and DJ Efn on Drinks Champs podcast. Fans will certainly love hearing a feature from the beloved Pop Smoke.
The Comparisons Between DMX, 50 Cent And Pop Smoke
During the first half of the interview, DMX’s discussed his return to the music scene and an upcoming song featuring Pop Smoke. Though, towards the end the discussion changed to some light-hearted commentary. Drinks Champ N.O.R.E in particular, joked about Pop Smoke being DMX and 50 Cent’s lovechild, since his rap qualities resemble the two legends. DMX seemingly agrees with the shows cohost by stating, “The growl and everything, I guess it’s just a coincidence.” In regard to Pop Smoke being his lovechild, he made it clear that 50 Cent would be the one rearing their child. We’re guessing he would be busy “out on the road” promoting his ninth album.
