Drake’s Latest Album Honestly, Nevermind A Setback To His Comeback

    New Album, New Style

Drake is back to back with his latest new album, Honestly, Nevermind , released Friday, June 17th. The Certified Lover Boy continues to bring hip hop to another level, although the album has been getting a very mixed reaction online.

Honestly, Nevermind consists of 14 tracks that mix hip-hop and African pop music showcasing a new style for the hip-hop artist. A longtime collaborator and one of the album’s executive producers, Black Coffee, brought the influence of African beats. Those beats influenced most of his seventh studio album.

The Canadian artist has been teasing the coming of the new album for some time, and many fans feel the “Motto” star held back on his lyrics. Many of the Grammy Award winners’ style of music and poetry is contagious to hear. At the same time, his newest album is a change that solely showcases the artist differently.

    Drake Speaks Out

The unexpected change from the star’s usual style resulted in a lot of negativity. In a small clip speaking to his critics on the release, the “Big Rings” star tells fans what’s on his mind.

“It’s all good if you don’t get it yet,” the Diplomatic Immunity star said. “It’s all good. That’s what we do. We wait for you to catch up. We’re in here, though. We’re caught up already. On to the next. My goodness.”

Drake’s new album includes songs like “Calling My Name,” where the house beat truly takes over the music. Honestly, Nevermind ends with “Jimmy Cooks,” featuring 21 Savage. The moments throughout the album that bring an upbeat and dance-like rhythm that sometimes  overshadows the star’s lyrics.

As it is a shift in his music style, fans were anticipating more and wanted to see the hip-hop star at his best.
