Drake’s ‘Way 2 Sexy’ For This Year’s Grammy Awards And Withdraws

    Withdraws From The Grammys

Drake will not be attending this year’s Grammy awards and has withdrawn his two nominations. Variety was first to report on the topic, and fans quickly wondered why the rapper did just so.

The rapper withdrew from his 2 Grammy nominations that included Best Rap Album, Certified Lover Boy, and lastly, Best Rap Performance in “Way 2 Sexy,” featuring Future and Young Thug.

According to Variety, the Grammys honored the request of the “Motto” star and his management team.

    History At The Grammys

The four-time Grammy winner has called out the Grammy’s in previous years after he speaks up for The Weekend after the 2020 ceremony.

“I believe we should no longer be surprised each year by the gap between meaningful music and these awards,” the rapper states.

During his acceptance speech after “God’s Plan” took home best rap song in 2019, the artist used his platform to tell fans about the music business. It may not be easy, but it is not always about the trophy in the end.

“If there are people with regular jobs who come out in the rain or snow, spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets for your shows, you don’t need this,” Drake stated, holding the trophy.”I promised you, you already won.”

Drake has won four Grammys before — two in 2017 for “Hotline Bling,” one in 2019 for “God’s Plan,” and another in 2013 for Take Care.

    The 64th Grammy Awards

Many are quick to say the rapper is withdrawing because of his involvement with the Astroworld Fest tragedy. However, he is appearing at Drake’s Free Larry Hoover concert on Thursday, Dec. 9, at the LA coliseum.

The 64th Grammy Awards will be aired on Jan. 31 in Los Angeles, Ca, hosted by Comedy Central’s, The Daily Show, host, and comedian Trevor Noah.

In November, the Recording Academy revealed plans to increase the number of nominees in four main categories from eight to 10. This change aims to accommodate “more music, more artists, and more genres,” while embracing inclusivity.
