Does Shaq own an NBA team yet?
Many often don’t take HOFer and former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal seriously due to his comical humor and silly interactions. However, it appears that he’s seriously interested in purchasing an NBA team, according to TheScore.com. O’Neal reiterated his interest in ownership this week when asked about the potential of him purchasing the Phoenix Suns on the “TMZ Sports” show.
“I haven’t talked with my partners yet, so I can’t make that statement at the moment. However, we’re still very interested in actively pursuing the purchase of an NBA team,” stated O’Neal. “But I’m not gonna go on here and say, ‘Oh I talked to some people.’ I haven’t had that conversation with my partners yet.”
Due to Robert Sarver’s scandal, the Phoenix Suns will be for sale for the foreseeable future. He was suspended for one year and fined $10 million for saying racist remarks. However, he received a ton of backlash from fans and even current players. Ultimately, opening up this opportunity for people to purchase the team like Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Shaquille O’Neal.
Sadly, O’Neal will be competing with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and several other serious contenders who’ve been linked to the team.
“This time, when I buy a team, I want to be actively involved.” O’Neal said when asked if he was interested in buying an NFL team. “I would like it to be in a place where I’m living at. If it’s not the Dolphins, Cowboys, or Raiders – and those teams are too costly for me. But my good friend Bezos can afford to pay for that.
