Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of Rape in a New York Court!!!
Disgraced Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of third-degree Rape & first-degree criminal sexual act. Weinstein is currently in police custody and will remain there until sentencing.
After a six-week trial and additional five-plus days of deliberation. A jury has found Harvey Weinstein guilty on 2 of the five charges he was facing. Weinstein caught a break after the jury found him not guilty of 2 predatory sexual assault and first-degree Rape. The predatory sexual assault charges carry a possible life sentence by themselves.
Weinstein pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him in the trial. All of the charges stem from the accounts of 2 women. However, countless others have come forward and accused Weinstein of sexual assault.
The two women who went to trial are Miriam Haley and Jessica Mann. Mann, an aspiring actress, claims Weinstein raped her at a hotel in 2013. While Haley, a former production assistant, accused the mogul of forcibly performing oral sex on her in 2006.
The defense team argued that everything the women did was consensual, to advance their careers. On the other hand, prosecutors argued that Weinstein was a predator who used his position as manipulation. Even more, the testimony of other women was further proof of a predatory nature.
A jury of 7 men and five women chose that they agree with the victims in this case, and now Weinstein faces at least 25 years behind bars.
