In August last year, actress Barbie Ferreira stunned fans when she revealed that she was not returning to HBO’s Euphoria because she no longer wanted to play Kat Hernandez. It sparked a flurry of rumors, including that she was in a feud with creator Sam Levinson.
But Ferreira has finally opened up about her decision on the podcast Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard and Monica Padman. And she has come clean to explain that it was a mutual decision for her and Levinson to exit the series after Season 2.
Ferreira’s character started in Season 1 with great potential, but her storyline quickly became stagnant. Her romance with Ethan (Hunter Schafer) was a weak storyline that never really came together in Season 2.
According to Ferreira, her storyline with the character of Kat Hernandez was becoming smaller and she wasn’t getting enough screen time.
She also added that filming a season takes about nine months and she couldn’t afford to devote that much time to other projects.
The teenage drama revolves around a clique of high school students as they traverse the realms of substance use, relationships, emotional scars, and the digital world. Renowned for its stellar ensemble, the cast features talents such as Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Aungus Cloud, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney.
But now, Ferreira is finally opening up about why she left the show, saying that she and Levinson had a toxic work environment. She alleged that she walked off set once after a disagreement with the creator.
