Hip Hop Reacts: Lebron James & L.A. Lakers Win 17th Championship

The Los Angeles Lakers are the 2019-2020 NBA Champions.

Lead by NBA Superstar Lebron James, they emerged victorious over their finals opponent, the Miami Heat 106-93, to be crowned NBA Champions. The victory was a storybook finale, with it being the same year of the untimely death of iconic L.A. Lakers Kobe Bryant, and a promised win by Lebron following the Black Mamba and daughter Gianna Bryant’s passing. This year’s trophy marks the first year the Lakers won a title since 2010.

Helping the team celebrate was the legion of Laker fans worldwide and some of the biggest names in music. “If you ain’t on this time right now…bye,” Rihanna wrote as she sung Queen’s “We Are The Champion” on Instagram. “Lebron remains king. The Lakers are the champs, and Kobe is proud. A.D thank you! #Congratulations.”

Following the hard-fought Sunday night (October 11) victory over the Heat. The biggest names in Hip Hop took to social media to congratulate James and the Lakers on the win. Rappers traded trash talk with others like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, a longtime Lakers fans, sending diss shots to Rick Ross, a Miami Heat fan, minutes after Game 6 ended. Accomplished West Coast recording artist/actor/Big 3 owner Ice Cube commemorated the Lakers’ legacy, writing “The Never Ending Dynasty,” along with artwork on Twitter.
