Most artists aren’t above showing admiration for others in the business. However, some entertainers just don’t get along. Rapper Joe Budden has made it clear time and time again that he’s not a fan of Nicki Minaj. Budden has attacked the rapper’s credibility too many times. Though, a new interview show’s him whistling a new tune. In rare form, Budden accused the Grammy’s of snubbing Nicki Minaj a win. The emcee believes Minaj deserves more credit from the Music Academy.
To Nicki Minaj Deserves More Credit
Several artists have boycotted against this year’s past Grammys due to the outward lack of inclusivity. Everyone from The Weekend to Teyanna Taylor has spoken out against the review committee. Now Joe Budden has a few frustrations he’d like to air out to the Grammy’s. Rather than speaking on his behalf, the former-emcee-turned podcast host, spoke up for his arch nemesis Nicki Minaj.
During a recent episode of his podcast, he questioned why the Music Academy refuses to give credit to Nicki Minaj. Budden actually vouched for the Trinidad-born emcee, stating that she’s basically the “blueprint” for every new upcoming rappers. “Nicki Minaj needs her flowers. Whoever the Grammy board is, whoever’s on there, y’all are not the ones that get to determine that Nicki Minaj and all of her impact and influence don’t get to win an award,” Budden said during his podcast. After watching Doja Cat accept a Grammy award, Budden felt that the award should’ve gone to Minaj. Where’s her credit?
The “Slaughterhouse” rapper further reflected a morbid idea about the Grammy’s. He suggested that the Music Academy won’t give credit to Nicki Minaj until after she’s passed on. With so many people advocating for Nicki Minaj’s Grammy win, the academy better listen this time.
Nicki Minaj’s Major Wins
Given all that Nicki Minaj has achieved in her 15-year career span, it’s clear that she’s overdue for a Grammy win. The rapper has been deemed one of the most influential rappers to come of the 2010s. Furthermore, she’s dropped several platinum records in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Charts. She’s even received several Grammy nominations but hasn’t taken home a win. If the Grammy awarded Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B Grammy wins, why not give Nicki Minaj the credit she deserves?
