Justin Bieber Shows Off the Mobility in His Face

Justin Bieber shows off the mobility in his face after he was temporarily paralyzed!

Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber recently revealed he was diagnosed with a rare condition that left him unable to move parts of his face. In an Instagram video, he provided insight into his diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition triggered by a virus akin to the one responsible for the onset of chickenpox.

The Stratford, Ontario, native, who is recognized for his genre-melding musicianship and global influence in modern-day popular music, was forced to postpone three of his Justice World Tour performances this week because of an illness. He later shared a video on his verified Instagram account showing how he could no longer blink or flare his nostrils on the right side of his face.
In June, he shared with his followers on social media that he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. He revealed experiencing challenges such as the inability to blink his right eye and difficulty smiling on the right side of his face.

Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a condition where the varicella-zoster virus, the same pathogen responsible for childhood chickenpox and adult shingles, targets one of the facial nerves near the ear. This can result in an array of symptoms including hearing impairment, ear discomfort, dizziness, ringing in the ears, dryness of the mouth and eyes, and more, as outlined by the Mayo Clinic.
The disease is very rare in people under the age of 60, and it often requires a trip to the hospital to diagnose it. It can also be life-threatening if untreated. The rash and other symptoms usually clear up within a week or two, but it can re-occur. It can be treated with the same medications doctors prescribe for chickenpox, such as acyclovir (Zovirax), famciclovir (Famvir), and valacyclovir (Valtrex).
