Logan Brown: Pregnant Trans Man Challenges Stereotypes

Logan Brown: the pregnant trans man that challenges stereotypes. Brown posed topless and pregnant on the cover of Glamour U.K.’s June Pride Month digital issue, generating intense online reaction. In the photoshoot and accompanying article, author Logan Brown reveals his pregnancy to the world. Brown was born female but now identifies as male. The story also reveals that Brown, 27, has been the victim of horrendous abuse from online trolls.

    Pregnant Trans Man Challenges Stereotypes

While many of the reactions have been supportive, others are not. Transphobic attitudes started to rise with anti-trans legislation spreading. Some commenters jumped on the opportunity to demonize a man using his male genitals to carry a child.

The magazine’s interview with Brown, a writer and social media personality, is powerful. Brown explains how the unplanned pregnancy came about and shares details of his journey as a trans man and parent. He also discusses the trolls who attacked him and his partner and how he’s been able to cope with such abuse.

As the interview continues, we learn that they were both shocked and excited when the couple first learned of the pregnancy. A “peculiar feeling” made them take a test, and the result was positive. At the time, the trans man said he felt it “erased” his masculinity. Eventually, they embraced this incredible opportunity to start their family as a queer couple.

In the photoshoot, Brown wore a red and white floral dress and a hand-painted suit designed by local artist Chloe Laws. It’s a powerful image that will undoubtedly become iconic and reflects the situation’s reality. It’s a reality that should not be erased by right-wing nastiness or J.K. Rowling rants. Anyone with a uterus can get pregnant.

In a time when the mainstream media has been so eager to celebrate young anorexic girls by telling them how pretty they look with their ribs showing, Glamour and other publications must recognize that trans women who are men insisting they are women aren’t being courageous; they are being cowardly and insidious. They are causing harm to the people they pretend to be helping by demanding that society accept their bogus beliefs about biology. That’s a dangerous and illogical position to be in.
