Originally created by Gianni Versace, the company known as Versace debuted as a high-end brand in 1989. While it continues to create clothing, it also expanded to home furnishings and perfumes. It became the fashion empire of today. The many faces of Versace include past ambassadors such as Madonna and Lady Gaga and the present ambassador Dua Lipa. But for men, the brand went a different route and chose Colombian singer Maluma.
Maluma Stuns as the New Face
The “11 PM” artist showed off in a maroon baseball jacket with cream colors, accentuating the huge V on the left side of his jacket. Additionally, his fit daunted Donatella’s name on it. On Instagram, Maluma announced the news: “Papi Versace, he expressed, which makes reference to his recent album Papi Juancho.
Donatella responded to the post and said, “Eres una súper estrella! El mundo no está listo para ver estas fotos de ti! Eres nuestro rey versace! Love you!!”
In English, this means “You are a superstar! The world is not ready to see these photos of you! You are our Versace king! Love you!!”
‘The Dirty Boy’ Made History
Last year at only 27-years-old, Maluma became the first Latino artist, and second in the world to design a clothing line. His line features a limited-edition collaboration with the Parisian brand Balmain: “Maluma x Balmain”.
This collection was composed of 10 pieces, in which its market value varied from $595 for a T-shirt up to $2,550 for other items. This collection came out last April.
Maluma’s participation in the new Versace campaign brings unity between Latin urban artists and high-end fashion. In fact, this all started with the sponsoring of concerts, clothing, and shoes.
Other artists such as Bad Bunny and J Balvin have their own collaborations with major sports shoe brands like Adidas and Nike.
