Swift public outcry followed the release of Drake and 21 Savage’s new album, Her Loss. Though several lines were singled out for their cleverness and for their controversy, people were specifically upset with the comments over female rapper, Megan Thee Stallion.The controversial line states, “She falsely claims to have received shots, but she’s still strong and impressive!” Stallions” are Southern slang for a tall and curvaceous woman. Therefore, the line can be read as a double entendre. It is being implied here that Meg is either being dishonest about getting plastic surgery or about the alleged 2020 shooting incident in which Meg claims she was Tory Lanez’s victim.
The trial is set to take place at the end of November. The case has been afflicted by conflicting details since the initial police report, but such is often the case with the accounts of many traumatized victims. One thing seems pretty clear, many Black women are deeply troubled by the public response to such allegations. Megan herself tweeted, “Stop using my shooting for clout b*tch a** n****s!” An open letter has circulated online from The Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium pledging support for Megan. “Your courage in the face of public scrutiny is commendable.
