Karl Anthony Towns reflects on Embiid’s return
Luckily, Embiid returned to the game, but his comeback wasn’t as successful as he hoped. The Timberwolves defeated the 76ers in a close 121-120 game that went into double overtime. Towns and Embiid are known for their size and versatility, making them intriguing opponents. Towns embraces the challenge of facing Embiid, showing no hesitation in getting physical and assertive.
It’s no secret that these two players aren’t each other’s biggest fans. However, they do hold respect for each other’s skills on the court. They have engaged in intense battles in the past, including a brawl in 2019 that resulted in a double ejection. This incident spilled over onto social media, where they exchanged public insults for all to see.

Despite their previous differences, they have recently put them aside. Despite all obstacles in his way, Embiids’ journey back onto the court was far from smooth or clear cut. He battled an array of severe symptoms during this time – contending with challenges like breathing difficulties alongside excruciating migraines and bodily soreness. Remarkably enough there reached a moment when even doubts about his eventual recovery crept into his thoughts as disclosed by an unidentified informant.
“No matter what our past interactions were like, I have to admit he’s an incredible player,” Towns commented. “I’m glad to see him back in the NBA because, as I’ve said before, I want to compete against the best of the best, and he is undoubtedly one of them. It pushes me to elevate my game and presents a challenge.”
