According to the Star Tribune of Minneapolis, a woman has filed a lawsuit in Dakota County District Court accusing Cook of assault, battery, and false imprisonment. Cook’s attorney, Dave Valentin, released a statement on Tuesday stating that his client was assaulted by the woman after she illegally entered his home. The statement also mentioned that Cook’s girlfriend attempted to extort millions of dollars from him, as reported by ESPN.
The Minnesota Vikings released a statement acknowledging that they have been notified by Dalvin Cook’s legal representative about an incident involving Cook and a female acquaintance in November 2020, which has resulted in an ongoing dispute between them. They have informed the NFL and are currently gathering more information. They refrain from providing further comments at this time.
In a separate statement, the NFL confirmed that they were informed by the Minnesota Vikings about the matter and declined to provide any additional comments moving forward.
Details of Cooks’ Allegation
The woman identified in the tweet and allegation is Gracelyn Trimble. She’s a sergeant in the U.S Army, flew to Minnesota to break with Cook and gather her belongings. However, things turned violent, Trimble alleged in the lawsuit.
According to the Star Tribune, Trimble accused Cook of causing her a concussion and leaving a scar on her face, leading to a distressing experience. She reportedly used Mace on him and proceeded to enter his bedroom, where she took hold of his gun and sought help from a friend. ESPN states that this resulted in Cook chasing her back with a broomstick.
Following the incident, she returned to Florida and sought medical treatment for her injuries, initially claiming they were the result of an ATV accident.
Cook’s lawyer openly addressed the situation, stating that Trimble forcefully entered Cook’s home through the garage door and proceeded to attack him and a guest. According to the lawyer’s statement, she used Mace on Cook and his guest upon entering, coercing them to stay at the house under threat of the gun for several hours.
No charges were filed, and the police were not involved at the time of the incident.
