    Oprah Magazine Raises Billboards For Breonna Taylor

    O, The Oprah Magazine has commissioned 26 billboards to feature the face of Breonna Taylor throughout the city of Louisville, Kentucky.

    The Oprah Magazine Billboards will begin to cover the city on August 6th.

    The billboards serve as a call for action against the injustice surrounding the case of Breonna Taylor.

    On March 13th, Louisville police officers acted on a no-knock warrant and entered Taylor’s home while she was sleeping. Taylor’s boyfriend responded in self-defense, shooting one officer in the leg. Furthermore, The officers proceeded to shoot Taylor eight times, leaving her dead at the scene. Louisville has since banned the use of no-knock warrants.

    The billboards spread throughout the city are demanding the arrest of the police responsible for Taylor’s death.

    There are a total of 26 billboards in Louisville, signifying the 26 years of Breonna’s life.

    The billboards also acknowledge the organization Until Freedom.

    The organization’s website offers information about how to “take action against injustice”.

    Also featured on the billboards is a quote from Oprah, “If you turn a blind eye to racism, you become an accomplice to it.”

    Magazine Spreads
    The artwork on the billboards is the same as the September issue of the  Magazine On July 30th, Oprah’s magazine announced that the September issue would feature Breonna Taylor’s face. Even more, This will be the first time in twenty years that Oprah, herself, is not on the cover of the magazine.

    Oprah Winfrey is one of the many prominent public figures that has taken to use their platform as a tool to advocate for social justice.
