Roman Quinn’s Career Plagued by Injuries; Left Achillies.
Quinn sustains injury on play to score at third.
Roman Quinn was carried off the field after an aggressive run to third. The culprit was an injury to his left achillies. Fortunately, the warrior he is, Quinn got the run in before collapsing on home plate. He is out for the rest of the season. Hopefully, it will just be this season but his options do not look good, at the moment.
A Career plagued by Injuries Including Two Achillies ruptures
But this isn’t the first time he’s been injured. Although, for Quinn it may be the most devestating. His career has been plagued with injuries. In fact, it wasn’t a matter of if he would get injured but when. Coincidentally, in 2013, his first injury of his career was rupturing his right achillies. Quinn’s speed is his prime feature and it appears it is a contributor to many of his injuries including the two achillies ruptures.
In 2016, his strained his left oblique. He injured his left elbow, in 2017. During 2018, he has tweaked his left hamstring, fractured his right foot, and sprained his right middle finger. Additionally, in 2019, his strained his right oblique and groin. In 2020, he suffered a concussion. Just prior to injurying his left achillies, in 2021, he had suffered a small laceration on his right index finger that required stiches.
Quinn’s Career Hangs in the Balance; He Gets Evaluated For Achillies Injury.
It seems Quinn has been unfairly unlucky in this game of baseball. Quinn’s tendency to push himself hard and run hard every play, is an indicator that his work ethic contributed to a string of injuries. Players who push the limits, often risk injury and Quinn’s pushed his career that way. Either way, Philadelphia fans wish him a speedy recovery.
Andrew McCutchen added this on his twitter account,
“Man, I feel for Quinn. I’m hurt for him to get hurt like that and still finish the play shows how bad he wants it every time he’s out there. Heal up bro.”
Quinn will be flying back to Philadelphia for an MRI but Girardi doesn’t expect any good news. Hopefully, this will not be the end of his MLB career. But, if the Phillies pass on him come abritration, his options may be few and far between given his susceptibility for injuries.
Quinn has three young kids including a recent newborn and outside baseball, has been focusing on fatherhood. Currently, fans and press await updates. So far, Quinn is placed on the 60 day IL and has to get evaluated further.
