The Philadelphia Eagles Ran Out of Luck

Last year, the Eagles brought the city of Philadelphia a Super Bowl championship…and there’s nothing more Philly wanted this year.

But in Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints, they just couldn’t deliver. With time still left on the clock, the Eagles had an opportunity to drive the ball down the field, which should have guaranteed them a touchdown.

However, due to a mistake by Alshon Jeffery, dreams of the Super Bowl faded almost instantaneously. Jeffery dropped the ball, handing the Saints the game.

After the game, the wide receiver took ownership of the devastating loss.

“That’s on me. I’ll take that loss. It’s on me,” Jeffery said in the moments after the game, according to HotNewHipHop. “I let my teammates down, the city of Philadelphia, that’s on me. I’ll take that.”

When Jeffery dropped the pass, the Saints cornerback, Marshon Lattimore recovered the ball.

Sunday’s game ended with a score of 20-14. The New Orleans Saints will advance to the conference championships. They’ll face the Los Angeles Rams for their chance at playing in the Super Bowl LIII.

As for Jeffery, feeling like you single-handedly ruined things has to be tough for any player. Fortunately for Jeffery, his team consoled him after the defeat. Both Nick Foles and Doug Pederson were seen offering words of encouragement.

Thoughts? Was it all Alshon Jefferey’s fault, or did the whole team screw up? Check out the highlight above and share your comments below!
