The Kid Laroi, the teenage Australian rapper and singer is making international waves. In fact, his label, Columbia, increased the Kid Laroi’s presence on the Billboard charts by releasing exclusive deluxe editions to his F*** Love mixtape. This week he jumped to the No.1 spot.
The project debuted at No. 8 in 2020. Its success was attributed to the hit single “Go” with the late Juice WRLD. Moreover, the newly released album versions include additional tracks. The second version entitled “Savage” had seven new tracks, which adds onto the original 15 tracks. After its release, “Savage” ended at the No. 3 spot on the Billboard charts.
Hip Hop Billboard Strategy
The Australian sensation’s journey to the top didn’t stop there. In July, his team made a clever move, dropping two versions within a weeks’ time. Firstly, fans were surprised with the release of “F*** Love 3: Over You” with seven more tracks, one of which includes a Justin Bieber feature called “Stay.” Then, several days later, F*** Love 3+ became the latest, most successful iteration with six new songs.
As the collection closed its 53rd week on the charts, it produced some impressive numbers. Actually, it ended with the equivalent of 85,000 sales in the United States, including 114 million streams, according to MRC Data, Billboard’s tracking platform.
Other Billboard Chart Toppers
Other artists are celebrating stellar album success. The albums that topped the chart for the first week of august include Olivia Rodrigo’s “Sour” at No. 2, Doja Cat’s “Planet Her” at No. 3 and Morgan Wallen’s “Dangerous: The Double Album” at No. 4 spot. Lastly, Pop Smoke’s “Faith,” dropped to No. 5.
The Kid Laroi sends a clear message: he isn’t going anywhere. The world will see what else is in store following his 18th birthday later this month.
