The Obamas Set To Have New Netflix Show

The Obamas have a new Netflix deal

Barack and Michelle Obama are working together to produce a Netflix comedy series. The series will focus on Donald Trump’s 2016 transition to the presidency and America’s government. The show is described as part docu-series and sketch comedy but is informational, according to Deadline. This new series will be called, The G Word.

    The series’ inspiration

G Word will begin filming in 2021 and references the book, The Fifth Risk, which the Obamas bought the rights to in 2018 under their production company, Higher Ground Productions.

    The book’s publisher, W. W. Norton & Company comments:

“The Fifth Risk” is a brilliant narrative of the Trump administration’s flawed presidential transition. It takes us into the government’s engine rooms, showing how leaders’ ignorance and greed threatened critical services that keep us safe and support our daily lives. From food and drug safety to predicting extreme weather events and preventing terrorism, this book vividly explores the consequences of leaders not understanding how our government functions.

Moreover, Adam Conover, the intended host of the series was overjoyed. He finally shared his role in the series. He took to Twitter to say:

“Excited to share this news! Making a new comedy series for Netflix about the federal government. It’s called The G Word, and can’t wait to share it with you.”

What else are the Obamas and Netflix up to?

In addition, the Obamas have more shows with Netflix in the works. In 2018 they announced their multimillion-dollar deal with the streaming service.

“We believe there’s something for everyone – parents, kids, and anyone seeking an uplifting watch after a busy day,” said Michelle. “We’re excited to see these projects come to life and the conversations they’ll spark.”
