The enhanced version of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is now playable on Nintendo Switch.
The Trend to Bring More Ports to Switch
While, there could be a massive disappointed that there isn’t a new Zelda game dropping on the switch, especially a lack of Breath of the Wild sequel. Instead, there appears to be a great majority that are excited for an updated port of Skyward Sword. Ports have been a primary focus point for Nintendo.
Shamelessly, Nintendo has been taking advantage of the mobility of the Switch console. And while, yes new games would be most welcome, having your favorites with you to play anywhere is a win for most players. Nintendo is playing to that want. However, this trend will lose it’s appeal soon if Nintendo doesn’t drop quality new content.
Enter Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. This game has some improvements that make the game playability more enjoyable. Particularly, it’s movement away from strickly motion controls. While motion controls can be fun to play at first, they lose their appeal after hours of playtime. Without further ado, here is everything you need to know about the Skyward Sword Port released for Nintendo Switch.

Skyward Sword Story
Initially, the story begins with an island floating in the sky: Skyloft. Inhabitants ilve their lives flying through the massive sky on large birds known as Loftwings.

Here, Link and Zelda are featured as childhood friends who grew up in Skyloft together. Accordingly, to his role, Link is enrolled in the Knight Academy on Skyloft. Notably, Knight Academy is where young students live and train to become knights once they graduate. Oddly, Link rides a Loftwing with red wings, a specific Loftwing hat’s thought to have been extinct. Consequenly, when Link is chosen as the wielder of the Goddess Sword, he departs on his quest to the surface world (Nintendo). #SkywardSwordHDLink

Upgrades (Since Nintendo Wii)
First and foremost, this game has been visually updated in HD to match the quality of Switch games and console. Now, the game runs at 60 FPS, providing much smoother gameplay. Secondly, there has been an update on the controls. Whereas, the wii version relied heavily on motion wii controllers, this version will give an option between motion controls and alalog controls.
To experience the changes in control, players can swing the controls to angle their slashes using intuitive motion controls.
Link’s in-game actions will mirror the angle of your strikes with the Joy-Con™ controller, resulting in engaging swordplay that requires strategy and precision.
Next, there’s a newly-added button only (analog) control that is beneficial for playing in handheld mode or on the Nintendo Switch Lite system. Additionally, it is ideal for those who do not want to rely on motion strikes to play the game. #SkywardSwordHDLink
DLC, Accessories, & Expansions
No information is released regarding DLC and Expansion passes but expect news as the release date draws closer.
Zelda & Loftwing Amiibo
And as with all their games, this one will have new release amiibo for in game additional features and for collectibility. This amiibo showcases Zelda next to a Loftwing. #SkywardSwordHDLink
Gratefully, this amiibo provides a shortcut for players to bring them to the sky, no matter where they are in the game. This is a nifty shortcut that will prove helpful in the game and reduce time to relocate in the game.
Scan this amiibo figure from anywhere in the world below to instantly teleport to the sky, even from inside a dungeon. Scan it again while above the clouds to return to the exact same location on the surface.
New Collectible Joycons
Even cooler, Nintendo released a set of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword themed Joy cons. Obviously, collectors will want to add these cool joycons to their collection. The joycons are blue and purple in color and feature the logo and zelda symbols. The Joycons are priced at $79 #SkywardSwordHDLink
