Valentino Goes Fully Pink For Fall Campaign
Formula One champion Sir Lewis Hamilton and Euphoria actress Zendaya are at the forefront of Valentino’s new campaign. Both are dressed to the nine in pink which seems to be the focus for the brand since their autumn/winter show last March.
Pink represents the brand’s identity for this campaign. Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli utilizes pink at the forefront and his models as muses. Some are calling the all-pink theme of the campaign “Barbiecore“.
Zendaya and Sir Lewis Hamilton Are Muses
Zendaya and Sir Lewis Hamilton are a perfect pair in this campaign. Moreover, both individuals are successful in their industries despite animosity along the way. The campaign represents more than just the color pink. Zendaya and Sir Lewis Hamilton bring the campaign to life.
Zendaya
Covering multiple magazines and working in a variety of fashion campaigns, Zendaya is the muse for many. Her role in the Hulu series Euphoria was just another reminder that she can do anything. She consistently portrays a powerful allure and is an inspiration to others. Valentino’s campaign depicts Zendaya dressed from the neck down in pink even wearing pink gloves and tights. She is posed in front of a pink backdrop holding a pink bag.
Sir Lewis Hamilton
Hamilton holds the F1 record for career race victories. Hamilton has previously discussed his upbringing and struggle growing up in a broken home. During an interview, the Formula One racer expressed, “You simply have to embrace and take pride in who you are, and that’s exactly what I strive to do.” In a photo from the campaign, Hamilton is posed in all pink holding up a shoe with his hand in one corner of the photo. The writing behind him reads “Still I Rise”. Possibly alluding to his success as a formula one driver despite his hardships.
Pink seems to be all the rage recently. With the new Barbie movie coming out, many high fashion brands are inspired by the color. Actresses like Florence Pugh and Anne Hathaway are making their pink debuts–it seems like everyone can’t get enough of the color.
Selecting these two individuals to be at the forefront of the campaign is a smart move from Valentino. Both Zendaya and Hamilton represent the purpose of the campaign.
Both individuals showed their support for the brand by sitting in the front row at the March Fashion show. Zendaya wore an all-pink suit while Hamilton wore an all-black ensemble.
