A Texas Grandmother Shot and Killed a Man Who Tried to Rob Her Soul Food Truck! Don’t Mess With Texas Granny

On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, a 23-year-old man tried to rob Keshondra Howard Turner while she was cooking inside her family’s soul food truck. In Houston, Texas, a courageous Texas grandmother fatally shot a man attempting to rob her soul food truck. She had shut the window but he pushed it open, stuck his gun inside and tried to shoot her. Texas has been active lately!

After the robber forced the door, Turner drew her own weapon and shot him several times. He collapsed around 50 feet away and died at the scene, according to police officials.

The incident occurred at around 1 p.m. in a parking lot near the intersection of South Main Street and Fondren Road in southwest Houston. The family has been running the business there for three years and never had trouble until Tuesday, KHOU reports.

According to police, the robber had pulled up alongside the truck and asked what was on the menu before pulling out his firearm. He then walked up to the vehicle and demanded money, according to Houston police Lt. Bryan Bui, who added that the robber had been trying to rob other businesses in the area.

But the owner of the food truck said that she had not heard of any other problems with her business until this week. She contacted law enforcement on Tuesday and they came to the scene with her.

Her son, Derick Howard, told a local news outlet that his mom was a “pious woman” who would not have opened fire unless she felt she had to. He also credited divine intervention for saving her.

She is a good-hearted person who always looked out for people, he said. She’d give them the shirt she was wearing if they needed it, he added.

Would be robber meets his maker

The robber had been trying to rob another business in the area, but it was unclear how much cash he was carrying at the time of the incident. The family’s food truck, called ‘Elite Eats and Cold Treats’ had just been open an hour when the robber approached it.

It wasn’t the first time that a member of the family had been robbed. When her daughter was 15 years old, she was robbed at gunpoint in the same parking lot where she worked as a chef.

Upon opening her eyes, the robber aimed his gun at her while issuing a threat to shoot. Fearlessly, she commanded him to halt and swiftly retrieved her own firearm.

    The universe intervened

He was not able to fire his weapon because it jammed, she said, but she drew her own and fired several shots at him. He collapsed about 50 feet away and died at the scene, Bui said.

She didn’t want to press charges against the robber, she said, but she would have to present evidence to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. She feared that he would have been killed if she didn’t shoot him, so she did it to protect herself and her family.

Her son credited divine intervention for saving her, saying that her mother was a “pious woman.” He said she is a good-hearted person who always looks out for people, he said. She’d get the shirt she was wearing if they needed one, he added.
