Abortion is the current hot topic as women lose their own rights over the weekend. There are a few celebrities who have their objections about the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Pitchfork reports a handful of female entertainers voicing their opposition during performances. During Phoebe Bridgers’ stage set in Glastonbury, the crowd would chant along, “F*** The Supreme Court.” Of course the hottie of all hotness chimes in, Meg thee Stallion. “I just want to have it on the record that the mo*ther***ing hot girls and hot boys do not support this bull****. Lorde would sing the same sentiment on Sunday at a festival. A few other celebrities would chime in also like Halsey and Olivia Rodrigo.
LA rapper Kendrick Lamar would end his set with, “Godspeed for women’s rights; they judge you; they judge Christ.” Making the statement wearing a crown of thorns made by Tiffany and Company.
Roe vs Wade vs Women’s Rights
We are nearing the end of the first week after The Supreme Court’s decision for a national abortion ban. Roe vs. Wade would allow women the right to safe abortions 50 years ago, now this is no more. The rights of women’s reproductive rights are now at the hand of governmental officials. The courts would leave it up to the state’s governments to decide if abortion will be legal or not. Southern states like Alabama, Texas and Mississippi openly embrace and enforce these restrictions.
This decision would spark an international upset, prompting women to head to the streets to protest. Of course, this would encourage women with platforms to rebel and stand up for the rights of women. Many other famous women would take to social media to share their abortion stories.
Orange is the New Black actor Laura Prepon discusses how having an abortion saved her life, according to the The Sydney Morning Herald. It was a devastating day when I decided to end a pregnancy in the second trimester. We discovered that the fetus would not survive until full term and my own life was also at risk. In that moment, I had a choice to make.
