Adam22 Nearly Fights Chicago Rapper Rooga: Shocking Moments from No Jumper Podcast

On October 13, 2024, the popular No Jumper podcast was a place of an epic meltdown between its host, Adam22-or simply Adam Grandmaison, and Chicago drill rapper Rooga. He is known for provocative interviews, starring him as number one within provocative journalism in hip-hop media. Rooga is a young star from Chicago, and his primary claim to fame comes in the form of his associations with the late FBG Duck, an adored and tragic figure within the city’s drill music movement.

The altercation was partly a result of Rooga’s pent-up frustrations with the way Adam22 had handled their interview a while back. He said Adam had assured him that he would be given a chance to view the interview before it went public, which never happened. It seemed to make things worse that Rooga was angry because Adam had previously interviewed figures close to FBG Duck; these included Mama Duck, FBG Duck’s mother, and fellow rapper FBG Wooski. With the sensitive topics regarding FBG Duck’s 2020 death, Rooga felt that Adam approached the subject in a manner that was disrespectful in nature and thus an act of exploitation.

Rooga raised his complaints during the podcast, and the discussion heated up instantly. As Rooga became angry, the tension in the room increased. Adam defended himself, saying that he and Mama Duck were having a two-way conversation that was innocuous, but this didn’t truly ameliorate things with Rooga, and for a while, it seemed like things might get physical. At one point in time, feeling the situation get completely out of control, Adam22 asked Rooga to leave the studio.

Fortunately, it did not involve physical contact; thus, it wasn’t an actual fight. Cooler heads prevailed before things could spiral out of hand.

As quickly as it happened, fans and viewers were taking to social media with their reactions, questioning whether the confrontation was true or for attention. One commenter, @TheMelaninPRJCT, simply said,

    “Staged.”

    Another viewer, @babenataliemay, responded,

“Lol that’s wild ???? I can’t believe Adam22 almost threw hands on his own podcast.”

Others were more cynical in their view: @Foreijn wrote,

“Adam be doing any and everything to stay relevant. If anyone thought this was real—sorry to break it to you, this was a skit! Lmao.”

These reactions simply mirrored the mixed reputation that No Jumper has accrued as a podcast, often criticized for courting sensationalism as a means of attempting at relevance. More than anything, this intense exchange between Adam22 and Rooga will have further embedded the notion that the show actually runs thick on controversy and unpredictability.
