Andrew Wiggins Clarifies His Recent Homophobic Comments & Failed!

Andrew Wiggins has officially clarified his homophobic comments. He also let the LGBTQ community know that he has nothing but love for them.

After this Tuesday’s game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Andrew Wiggins made some comments about Thunder’s guard Dennis Schroder. Wiggins said to reporters:

“I don’t know what’s wrong with him. Uh, he was just gay. He was acting crazy for no reason,” Wiggins said. “I look right through him. He’s not someone I look at as a problem. Not at all.”

A video was later posted online, which got some backlash, according to ESPN. Andrew Wiggins went on Twitter to clarify what he meant. In addition to that, he also said that he has nothing but love for the LGBTQ community.

NBA players really need to watch their homophobic comments. Besides the fact that no one should say anything homophobic, the NBA has a history of punishing players who make bigoted comments. Also, it does not help anyone’s image to be labeled a homophobe. Wiggins made the right choice in clearing the air, but he also needs to check himself in the future. But this is not the first we’ve seen in the sports world. Kyler Murray was recently under fire for his homophobic tweets.

Furthermore, what do you think of what Andrew Wiggins said? How should celebs be treated when making derogatory statements?
