Some famous personalities tend to get ahead of themselves when they venture into other entertainment spheres. Former stripper Amber Rose has risen through the ranks, quickly becoming one of the most prominent figures in Black Hollywood. She first gained fame after dating rapper stars like Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa. Afterwards, she secured some movie roles on BET and even owns her own businesses. By now, the woman knows every trick of the trade. Though Amber Rose didn’t just stop at dating famous men and securing movie deals, she’s a rapper now. Recently, the former stripper released the new song and video for “GHYO.”
Amber Rose Embraces Female Sexuality
Amber Rose has made a lot of questionable choices throughout her life. Even so, we can’t deny that she’s a self-made woman. Having gone from poverty to becoming the co-owner of Ace of Diamonds Strip Club, Rose has come a long way. The savvy businesswoman has even ventured into other entertainment spheres, including rapping. After starring as the main video vixen in a slew of rap songs , the 38-year-old decided to step up to the mic.
Recently, the Sister Code actress dropped her debut music video for “GHYO”, an acronym for “Get Your H*e On.” Furthermore, the mother of two encourages female sexuality and even boasts about some of her own sexual exploits. Sources suggest that the release of her song has plenty to do with her involvement in the SlutWalk movement. Furthermore, the organization protests Los Angeles rape culture and helps victims of sexual assault.
In terms of “GHYO’s” aesthetics, fans may instantly recognize the beat of the song belonging to the Big Tymers’ 2000 hit “Get Your Roll On.” The legendary Mannie Fresh even helped produce and rework his original song. Additionally, Fresh made appearances throughout the music video, acting as Rose’s hype man. At least, she has some support from the rap community.
The Fans Found Her Rap Skills Laughable
While Amber Rose may have spent enough time around rap stars to learn a thing or two about rapping, social media thinks her spit game needs work. The model and TV personality received harsh criticism from rap aficionados, with many of them finding “GHYO” laughable. Several Twitter users urged rappers never to let Amber Rose near a mic ever again. Others simply described her debut track as an insult to hip-hop music altogether. Unfortunately, Amber Rose didn’t win the masses this time around. It won’t be long though before the model finds another business to dig her claws into.
