Talk about having some PTSD…
Danity Kane’s Aubrey O’Day is still recovering from the horrible trauma Diddy put her though that followed her run on the MTV series, ‘Making The Band.’
Aubrey O’Day tells Variety that working with ‘Making The Band’ creator Sean “Diddy” Combs was scary. It even left her with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).
Reflecting on her time on the MTV series, O’Day says:
“Puff is a very difficult person to work with. Everything had to be flawless. I recall moments when he scrutinized my toenails, saying, ‘What’s up with your third toenail? Fix that before entering a room.’ During rehearsals for a repetitive hour-and-a-half set, he’d breeze in for five minutes with a camera and remark, ‘Aubrey, why are you sweating? You look like a wet dog. You’re supposed to be the attractive one, so is that how you want to appear?'”
She adds:
“We were constantly on edge due to Diddy’s daily expectations. There was zero margin for error. Diddy was an incredibly intense collaborator. I faced everything from racial comments to sexism, and a lot of it was unsettling. I had a strong mom who wasn’t very nurturing, and I remember as a kid, I injured my knee and was bleeding everywhere. She simply said, ‘Deal with it, Aubrey!’ That was fitting preparation for what I confronted on ‘Making the Band.'”
Furthermore, Aubrey O’Day asserts that Diddy’s behavior would not be tolerated today, mentioning,
“Diddy’s a father now, so hopefully he’s gained insight into how to treat women and has developed greater empathy.”
Despite the challenges she encountered during the show, O’Day reveals that the experience taught her self-reliance, and she’s enthusiastic about the revival of “Making the Band.”
Subsequently, sounds like Diddy has a problem with the way he talks to women. Maybe he’s a changed man! Who knows?
