Baltimore Ravens Defense Bails Out Lamar Jackson Career-High INTs

Baltimore Ravens defense plays exceptionally well, Sunday night, to overcome Lamar Jackson’s disappointing performance against the Cleveland Browns. Although the Ravens defeated the Browns, 16-10, Jackson made history again. According to ESPN, he became the first quarterback in eight years to win a game despite throwing four interceptions.

“I’m frustrated,” Jackson expressed. “I believe we had opportunities to make something happen during those drives when the interceptions occurred. We could’ve scored points.”

Jackson tapped his chest and said to his team, “That’s on me. I owe you guys.”

On Sunday night, Jackson had a career-high of four interceptions, with most of them occurring while facing pressure. Towards the end of the first half is where former MVP seemed to struggle the most. Three of his final five passes of the quarter were intercepted and the final interception was thrown in the fourth quarter intended for tight end Mark Andrews.

The Ravens defense was able to hold the Browns offense to three points off the turnovers. While Jackson was fortunate he does admit it was an off day and the Browns defense made great plays on the ball.

“I mean, it’s one game that it happened,” Jackson said. “They simply made exceptional plays on those interceptions. It wasn’t as if I was directly throwing it to them.”

Baltimore Ravens defense is an asset

The latest defeat of the Tennesse Titans by the New England Patriots has moved the Raven’s to the top seed with six games remaining. The last two games were won predominately due to Raven’s defense stepping up. Last week, the backup Tyler Huntley and that defense were able to hold off the Chicago Bears, 16-13.

The defense also held the NFL’s top rushing attack to 40 yards on the ground. They forced three turnovers and constantly pressured Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.

“It’s clear that [Jackson] has achieved remarkable feats and carried us to victory in numerous games, often single-handedly,” commented Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey. “When you examine the top five quarterbacks in the league, none of them excel in every game. Therefore, it was truly special for us to support him and seal the game on defense.”
