Big Sean explains why he hasn’t married Jhené Aiko after 8 years of dating

Detroit rapper Big Sean has revealed his thoughts on his long-lasting relationship with singer Jhené Aiko amid rumors as to why they were yet to get married despite being together for nearly nine years with a child.

In a very honest discussion with Charlamagne Tha God, Sean shared that marriage is a situation so serious that it must not be rushed; thus, he proclaimed the institution to be a step in the relationship that only the real genuine ones can come up to.

He added that societal pressure can make one live in fear of making decisions, some of which may lead to a high divorce rate. “Entering into marriage for reasons of being afraid of what others will say or do can be very challenging later in life. We want to be in the right place for both of us and our family before we get married, ” he said.

Big Sean and Aiko focused on finding a healthy relationship and family life, viewing the byproduct of that as potentially marriage. “Our priority has always been to make sure we’re working on building something solid for our family and our relationship. If marriage is a byproduct of that, then it’ll be a beautiful thing,” Sean added.

He went further to stress the point of being on the same page with Aiko and that they had to continue working on their relationship. “We both need to feel ready and aligned in our journey together before considering marriage; it’s not something to be taken lightly,” Sean noted.

They balance their family life, careers, and personal growth in life. Big Sean shared with us that things need special attention and work. According to him, “We have to juggle a lot of things—our careers, our personal growth, and our family. It’s important to make sure we’re in a good place in all these areas.”.

This took place after the viral moment at one of the Big Sean concerts, where Jhené Aiko made a joke regarding her missing marriage ring while he was performance his song “Beware” onstage. The jesting back and forth summed up the couple’s very open and candid approach to the topic of marriage.
