What’s surprising within the hip-hop world is that Big Sean has seemingly pointed his newest freestyle at Kendrick Lamar. Dropped on July 16, 2024, via extremely popular freestyle platform “On the Radar,” there is no time wasted before the freestyle becomes a hot topic of discussion.
Big Sean’s freestyle, which was released on 16th July 2024, has been the word of mouth in hip-hop circles. Dropping off “On the Radar,” a platform that is known to feature raw and unfiltered rap talent, gave Sean the perfect platform to share thoughts guilelessly.
Big Sean’ just dissed Kendrick Lamar and said Compton has been gentrified 💀
“I laugh at the fact they calling y’all the greatest, I’m set it’s on, we solidified, you n*ggas say you run your city but that shit is gentrified” PIC.TWITTER.COM/ZK6TYJFROB

Big Sean appears to return what looks like a thinly veiled shot at Kendrick Lamar in his freestyle with these lines,
“N##### looking for engagement like they got they knee bent. I gotta better things to do than find someone to beef with.”
These bars insinuate that Sean does not care about petty beef rather focusing on the big picture. In addition, Big Sean’s newly previewed collaboration with Kanye West, “Fighting Fires,” contains a line that has created more controversy:
“I laugh at the fact they calling y’all the greatest, I’m set it’s on, we solidified you n##### say you run your city but that s### is gentrified.”
These lines allude to whether some rappers had authenticity in their claims of dominance over towns; a remark that several people have interpreted as targeting Kendrick Lamar, who for a long time has been crowned the king of Compton.
Right after the freestyle dropped, Big Sean took to Twitter to make a message for the chattering masses. He tweeted at the time:
“Yall goin wit so many narratives. Im talking to da haters who just keep finding something to point out they dont like bout me. Its not even worth explaining tho im a just focus on the music.”
Big Sean responded to say he was tired of a plot being hatched from his lyrics, claiming that he had been focused on his music rather than any beef with the rapper. Not only that, but a respected voice in the industry, DJ Hed, eventually came out to say that the controversial bar wasn’t aimed at Kendrick Lamar, but toward another Gemini.
I talked to Sean. The bar was
“I got better things to do then find someone to beef with”
And it was not for Dot.

Although Big Sean denied everything and clarified it, the rumors of a Big Sean-Kendrick Lamar beef continued to spread like wildfire. Fans and critics just went into digging deeper in those lyrics for any sign of hostility. The lines from “Fighting Fires” are the ones more responsible for stirring these discussions about territorial claims in this hip-hop world, with many interpreting them as a direct shot at Kendrick.
Big Sean, however, has stuck to his guns, saying that his words were misinterpreted. He wants the world to know that he is focused on just making music and trying to deal with bigger issues in the industry rather than getting wrapped up in personal beef.
