DIZZLE AP FT. JAMMER – FLEXIN [MUSIC VIDEO]

    0

Capturing vibes upon vibes Dizzle AP drops the music video for his mesmerising track ‘Flexin’’ ft Jammer, taken off his newly released album ’11′. Premiered via Link Up TV it showcases a mirage of visuals snapshotting the electric atmosphere of a live show. Simmering with an abundance of energy the music video elevates the feel good, psychedelic essence of the track and features cameos from Skepta, J2K, Frisco, JME, Shorty, Scratchy and Ganzy.

“Do you know who I really wanna talk about? DizzleAP. You get Road Rap like 67 and Section Boyz – well DizzleAP sounds like that but then has a voice of a grime emcee” says Julie Adenuga in her Beats 1 Radio interview with Boy Better Know’s Jammer, which has subsequently been ripped to make the intro of DizzleAP’s brand new mixtape, ’11’.

Adhering to an un-constrained, non-confirmative sound, he has constructed a monumental eleven track project, compelling from start to finish as he spars with varying tempos, delivery styles and genre influence as well as a number of impressive features that mirror his undefinable sound. A collision of flows, he is joined by North London heavy hitter Benny Banks on ‘Grandad’ and Ganzy is on board for the ringtone sampled track ‘Trap Phone Bless’. Following on from his previous collaboration on grime legend Jammer’s ‘Are You Dumb Vol 5’ mixtape for the track ‘Wave and Jagga’, the pair went on to perform for Tim Westwoods Crib Sessions and Annie Macs closing party and they now collaborate once again for lead single on ’11’, ‘Flexin’.

Consisting of a broad range of styles from the trap-heavy ‘Down n Out’, to the more melodic and rhythmic number ‘No New Friends’ and his quick-fire ‘M2M freestyle’, the UK sound has clearly influenced this project. Raised with a keen appetite for UK Grime and Hip Hop collectives and artists such as More Fire Crew, Heartless, Pay as you go, Wiley, Jammer and Giggs, DizzleAP pays homage to his roots through his music. Standout records such as ‘Unruly Flow’ are a clear example of this as he rattles out a juggernaut of flows over a hypnotic loop as DizzleAP projects his skill of delivery seeing his mesmerising bars intertwine with the rapid pace of the instrumental.

Having already made a significant impact in just a short period of time, DizzleAP is an emcee with eyes and ears focussing closely on him. Discover him for yourself with these 11 new records.

If Siri Understood Slang, Maybe She’d Be Better

    2

Siri angers a lot of her loyal Apple users that swear by her functions and abilities. Unlike her rival A.I. “Google Assistant” her dictation and understanding are just missing something crucial in comparison. With this in mind, I thought intently on a few ideas that could improve her. Not that I’m a tech expert of any kind, but ponder this:

What if Apple upgraded Siri to understand urban slang in addition to the other languages she already knows?

Yes, Siri can do whatever you tell her to do (as marketed by Apple) but getting her to do so is just downright frustrating. And when she does decide to follow your command (such as sending text messages) there’s always spelling and grammar issues. Have you ever experienced this situation?

“Hey Siri, text James “I’ll meet you at 4pm at the bar.”

And she responds “Sure, I’ll text James “I’ll meet chew at fourpeem at the barre.”

To add more frustration to the situation at hand she asks “Should I send this?”

    If Siri Understood Slang(1)

Sure, Siri is truly doing her best to understand your commands. I mean, that’s what she’s designed for. But if Siri was programmed to learn slang, maybe her dictation would improve drastically. Let’s take the same example in mind if she understood slang.

“Yo Siri, text James “I’ll meet you at 4pm at the bar.”

And she responds “Yep, I’ll text James “I’ll meet chu’ at 4pm at the bar.”

Okay, so she said “chu”. But isn’t that a lot better than “chew”? Apple users know what I’m getting at here with this one. The problem with Siri is that you can’t edit her dictations. So if she misunderstood you, you’d have to re-command her all over again only for her to do the same thing or worse.

Outside of that point, there’s one more angle to consider. Slang is adapted into modern day culture from African-Americans, which are the largest consumers in America. According to recent reports and research, Social Media technology is truly driven by the ethnic group due to the Millennial boom in modern times. And let’s be quite clear, slang is cool as hell to speak as races outside blacks speak it just as well or better in some cases.

    If Siri Understood Slang (2)

Slang is everywhere! From television, radio, music, and advertisements. The word “Jawn” even became an actual adapted English word according to Webster’s Dictionary. And where did this word come from? The hoods of Philadelphia, PA in urban black communities.

Siri, please tell your iOS creators over at Apple to teach you some slang! Even if your command given is:

“Yo, Siri text my man James where da jawn at in da’ kitchen you was talkin bout?”

You’ll confirm that exact same message without us having to redo it all from scratch. That’s all we ask.

Leave your comments below on this topic. What do you think about Siri “Slang” being an upgrade?

French Montana & Drake Link For “No Stylist”

    0

French Montana has officially dropped his new single “No Stylist, ” featuring Drake. Premiered on Zane Lowe’s ‘World Record, ‘ the track is an apparent diss of YEEZY kicks.

French teased the track earlier this week via Instagram of cover art featuring 80’s Hip-Hop icon Slick Rick. Snippets of “No Stylist” have also surfaced online, including a portion of what looks to be Drake’s verse.

When asked about the track on beats 1, French said the following,

“I always felt like [the Bronx] got overlooked when it came to fashion,” French Montana told Lowe. “And I feel like people that changed fashion was the icons that we looked up to like Slick Rick when he came out with 40 chains on all the vintage looks and even brings it up to date. When Cam’ron came out with the pink Mink and everybody you know it’s just people that changed culture because everybody thinks if you go to Fashion Week you know how to dress. That’s not, there’s ninety nine point nine people out there that don’t go to Fashion Week they could dress better than anybody on that runway. We want to give that dope boy on the corner.”

Barry Jenkins’ New Film Is A Tragic Love Story

    0

After debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival this month, Annapurna Pictures has finally released the first trailer for Barry Jenkin’s new film If Beale Street Could Talk. Based on the 1974 novel, the film is an adaptation of James Baldwin’s brilliant mind. Following his Academy Award-winning picture, Moonlight from 2016, Jenkin’s ability to highlight the black body in new spaces is unparalleled.

Set in the early 1970’s Beale Street starts KiKi Layne and Stephen James as a young romantic couple. Friends since childhood, 19-year-old Clementine “Tish” Rivers and Alonzo “Fonny” Hunt fall in love and plan out a future, until Fonny is arrested for a crime he did not commit. Set to free her husband-to-be out of jail, Clementine races time before the birth of their child.

The movie also stars Regina King, Colman Domingo, Dave Franco, Atlanta’s Brian Tyree Henry and more.

If Beale Street Could Talk marks Jenkins’ first English-language feature film based on the work of Baldwin. This is Jenkins’ third movie, as he continues to establish his dedication to stories that showcase the power of love and family. The first look of the film came on what would have been James Baldwin’s 94th birthday, on Aug. 2. The Harlem love story hits the big screen on Nov. 30.

Franko Fraize drops visuals for ‘Queen of Hearts’

    0

Eloquently piecing together a portrait depicting the life of his female protagonist, Franko Fraize releases his breathtaking single ‘Queen of Hearts’.

Plagued by insecurities and riddled with self-doubt his powerful single echoes a story that delves deep into the life of the leading lady as we are taken through her footsteps. The composition of the lyricism, combined with the mesmerizing production creates an atmospheric instrumental that is infused with piano loops and drums patterns.

Premiered exclusively via Clash Magazine, the ‘Queen of Hearts’ music video cleverly depicts the narrative of the track through animation with the site referring to it as an ‘endearing, loving portrait’ and ‘one of his strongest lyrical performances’ (https://www.clashmusic.com/videos/franko-fraize-shares-beautiful-queen-of-hearts).

‘Queen of Hearts’ is the third single to be released from his forthcoming ‘Lights and Colour’ EP, due for release this Autumn. It comes off the back of his feel-good single ‘Let It Go’, which is a nostalgic dance inspired summer scorcher. The first of the three tracks was ‘Side By Side’, which received a nod from 1Xtra DJ Mistajam who said: “I’ve been keeping my eye on him for a while but this is possibly his best track to date!”. Unconfined by genre Franko Fraize’s musical diversity is evident through his music and the last three releases pays homage to his eclectic taste.
