Yella Beezy, was released from the Dallas County Jail after posting a $750,000 bond. The bond, initially $2 million, was reduced at a March 26, 2025, hearing after members of Beezy’s family testified to his financial hardships.
Beezy had been arrested in March 2025 and was charged with capital murder in the death of fellow rapper MO3 (Melvin Noble). Prosecutors allege that Beezy orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot, paying Kewon White, the alleged gunman who murdered MO3 on November 11, 2020, on Interstate 35 in Dallas.
Following his indictment by a Dallas County grand jury on March 20, Beezy’s bond was initially set at $2 million. During the bond reduction hearing on March 26, members of his family testified that he could not afford the amount. Under Texas bail bond laws, defendants can be freed by paying 10% of the bond amount to a bail bond company, which pays the rest. This allowed Beezy to post bond and be freed until trial.
The lawsuit is the culmination of a years-long feud between Beezy and MO3, both of whom were raised in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas. The two men battled their feud out on social media and through diss tracks, which only intensified following the 2018 murder of comedian Roylee Pate, a friend of MO3. The day after Pate’s murder, Beezy was targeted in a drive-by shooting in Lewisville, Texas, which touched off speculation of revenge violence between the two sides.
Tensions continued in the following years, with a 2020 altercation between Beezy and MO3’s manager, Brandon Rainwater, adding to the acrimony. MO3 frequently discussed their differences on social media, though both artists publicly minimized the extent of their rivalry. In a 2019 interview, MO3 claimed,
“I have no real friction with Beezy,” while Beezy insisted, “I don’t know him. I know everybody from my city making noise.”
Yella Beezy rose to fame in 2017 with his single That’s On Me, which was gold-certified by the RIAA and peaked on the Billboard Hot 100. He was one of the prominent artists of the rap scene in Dallas, collaborating with major artists and gaining fame outside of Texas.
Beezy has been plagued with legal problems in recent years. He was arrested in 2021 on sexual assault and illegal carrying of a weapon charges, but the charges were later dropped. His past of having been engaged in violent confrontations, including surviving the 2018 drive-by shooting, also helped fuel the public perception of his involvement with current street feuds.
