No matter the trials and tribulations a person faces, they always have a choice to make a better life for themselves. For instance, California rap artist MBNel came from nothing but decided to make something of himself. The 25-year-old tells grim stories of life on the streets, recounting every single moment. Furthermore, the rapper of Filipino descent endured a hard upbringing in the city of Southern Stockton, but always had his music career in hindsight.

In talks about his music, MBNel noted that, “I’m not afraid to delve deeper than what’s on the surface. I make music like a journal.” Furthermore, tracks such as 2021’s “Opulent,” “Shooting Stars” and “Manifested” have all been heartfelt songs from the artist. More importantly, they push the boundaries of rap music by offering depth and range. Moreover, MBNel’s three tracks received millions of streams, showing off his melodies, songwriting skills and his ability to inspire audiences everywhere. As a Muddy Boyz/EMPIRE signee, MBNel’s notoriety in his hometown only continues to grow.

Recently, the artist from the southside of Stockton,CA delivered another genius track “Ransom” that shows MBNel’s duality. He may write heart-wrenching lyrics but he can also go into demon mood at any given moment.

     MBNel Goes Into Demon Mode

When it comes to rap music these days, there’s plenty of versatility and talent in store for listeners. MBNel, southside Stockton’s native son, stands out because of his melodic ability and unbelievable bars. He makes this clear after turning into a lyrical demon on “Ransom.” The rapper loves the art of rap music and the ability to express himself freely. However, he’s had just about enough of his competitors, who he deems as weak. “I ain’t nothing like these rappers in my city, stop comparing me / how he sent them shots and miss err’ one that s**t embarrassing,” MBNel raps. While the artist clearly has the beat down to a science, the visuals for the song are just as good.

Furthermore, the music video features the Stockton streets he grew up on. It’s sort of like traveling down memory lane for the rapper. Clearly, MBNel writes honest music that resonates with a lot of people.
