Camila Cabello is opening up about her personal life with Shawn Mendes in her cover story for Elle‘s Women in Music issue.
In her cover story, Cabello talks about her need to protect her relationship with Shawn Mendes. Especially now with so much speculation surrounding the alleged couple.
“I cherish love deeply, and for me, it’s a sacred and private connection with my partner. While I adore my fans and people, I prefer to keep my relationship out of the spotlight and live as normally as possible. Speculations will always arise, but we choose to live our lives, falling for each other without the world watching. I want to protect this love and keep it ours.”
Speaking about working with Mendes on “Señorita,” Cabello says, “I love him. We have a great connection and enjoy our time together. He suggested the chorus idea, and even though I was hesitant at first, the song grew on me. We worked on it without pressure, and I love collaborating with him.”
“I was on the Taylor Swift tour and hadn’t been in the studio for a while. I didn’t want to do it, and then a few months later, I couldn’t get the song out of my head,” Cabello continues. “I [finally] told him, ‘I think we should do this.’ He was like, ‘I don’t want to do it anymore.’ It went back and forth for, like, eight months. Then we finally went into the studio and reworked it so we both felt good about it, without any pressure. I love working with him so much.”
