However, the spectacle was said to have been dampened by a technical hitch on Cardi’s show stopper when her pyrotechnics failed rather than ‘exploding’ as planned.
The fail appeared to flop and even visibly ruffled Cardi. Never one to hold back, the outspoken star had a scathing message for production crew on social media following the episode. In a fiery post, she declared: ‘This is wrong and feminism cannot progress under these kinds of standards. The pyros were meant to elevate the show, not destroy it. Crew need to step up god-willing.

Her fans, primed for an evening of electrifying anthems that would forever be the soundtrack to their coming-of-age days, were split. Many praised Cardi for being candid about her technical difficulties which disappointed fans weren’t able to hear the performance as well. However others were worried Ms Brady’s call-out might also be disrespectful towards the crew working hard behind-the-scenes.

The BET Experience, a lively lead-up to the prestigious BET Awards is famous for being star-studded and pumping with electric energy. Coming back this year after missing the event during the pandemic was extra special. During the second weekend, Cardi B set a new bar for unexpected headline performances.
The tension increased more when a random audience member took it personally and threw a drink on the rapper during his set. Then Cardi immediately clapped back and threw her microphone at the person while screaming. He then reported the incident to police, stating it was a case of battery. While no arrests have been reported in the incident, it had a chilling effect online.
Others felt Cardi in the sense that they could see how shocked and angry she was when this actually happened. However, some criticized her for deciding to take the confrontation further. Cardi has yet to address the scuffle, but it dampened a night full of energy.
