Coachella Weekend 2 Lineup Revealed: Frank Ocean Out, Who’s In?

Frank Ocean is backing out of the Coachella weekend 2 lineup, who’s in now? His headlining performance at Coachella this past Sunday was… not the best. It started an hour late and ended abruptly, leaving attendees with a sour taste in their mouths. It also wasn’t livestreamed on YouTube, unlike other performers, which left many fans angry. Don’t miss the details!

    This wasn’t the only mishap

TMZ reported Monday that Ocean’s production was altered following an injury that he sustained while riding his bike on the festival grounds. According to the report, an ice rink that was meant to be a part of Ocean’s stage had been built for the performance, but it was scrapped because of the injury.

Frank Ocean’s Coachella Performance Was a Flaw

He reportedly hurt his ankle while riding his bike days before the show, which led to a change in the stage production. The ice rink was removed and hockey players hired to skate during Ocean’s set were instead used as background dancers.

On Wednesday, a representative for Ocean announced that the singer won’t be performing at the second weekend of Coachella because of a “leg injury.” He also confirmed Blink-182 will replace him as the headliner.

The news comes after Ocean’s first performance at the festival last week drew widespread criticism from fans. It started an hour late and ended abruptly, with the singer not livestreaming his set on YouTube. He only performed for a few minutes before cutting it short due to the festival’s strict midnight curfew.

As a result of the delay and the unexpected end, the crowd quickly began to leave. Despite being scheduled to perform for over an hour, Ocean only performed for about 20 minutes. He also sat down for most of his performance, which didn’t help.

Who’s next? Who will replace Frank Ocean?

While he did rework some of his hits, like “Novacane” and “White Ferrari,” his performance was a sloppy mess. It was paced extremely awkwardly, with long periods of silence between tracks. He also opted to perform on an oversized screen, which made his performance difficult to see.

He also wore a dark hoodie during his performance, which made it difficult to tell if he was actually singing. His entire set began an hour late, and fans were frustrated by his performance, which was criticized for being disorganized and hard to follow.

But he did manage to get some incredible moments, including a heart-felt speech about his brother Ryan Breaux who passed away in 2020. He reworked songs from his most recent album “Blonde” and his 2011 masterpiece “Channel Orange.” The reworks added a different sense of flow to his performance.

After the performance, Ocean tweeted that he was sorry for his performance, but he wished everyone else in attendance a great weekend and hopes to see them back at the festival next year.

Blink-182 will replace Frank Ocean on Sunday at Coachella, according to Variety. The band – which consists of Travis Barker, Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus – had already played in the first weekend but weren’t a main act, so this marks their debut as a headliner.
