The DR has been in the news nonstop in recent weeks. Mostly because Americans have been turning up dead after vacationing in various resorts around the Caribbean country. But no one expected a Dominican man to find himself in harm’s way.
Especially not if that Dominican man was a star slugger, playing for one of the most famous teams in American baseball. The Boston Red Sox.
David was shot in his back, while he was partying at the Dial Bar and Lounge in Santo Domingo. After investigating the case, authorities believe the incident was the result of mistaken identity.
The bullet, which pierced Ortiz through the back, exited his body through his stomach–damaging vital organs in the process. Following the incident, he had to go to an intensive care unit. With some time, he was able to leave the ICU..
However, he still has a long road to recovery.
So far the team has not released any new details of David Ortiz’s third operation, but they continue to pray for his speedy return to baseball.
