Denver Broncos GM George Paton: ‘Everything is on the table’

There’s no secret that the Denver Broncos are in the market for looking for a legitimate quarterback. According to Jeff Legwold for ESPN , the Broncos general manager (GM) George Paton spoke earlier this week at the combine and said, “Everything is on the table”. He spoke in reference to pursuing quarterbacks; however, him claiming this stance can only lead one to believe that they’re desperate. This can mean multiple first-round picks to get one or simply bringing back Teddy Bridgewater. Although Bridgewater isn’t terrible, with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in their sites, there should be no reason to not do everything in their power to acquire him for the following season.

Paton emphasizes that he cannot speak on Rodgers’ situation due to his contractual obligations with the Packers. However, he openly spoke about considering a blockbuster deal for the veteran quarterback if the opportunity presented itself.

    Denver Broncos draft potential

In this year’s draft, the Broncos have the ninth overall pick and have five picks among the first 100 selections. Last week, the Broncos sat down and attempted to plan out their free agency by taking a look at the unrestricted free agents. This included all quarterbacks and skill positions; however, they were not necessarily sold on the list but they saw possibilities, reported ESPN.
“I wouldn’t say multiple, but there are some ones we like that are very appealing, including Paton expressed his positive feelings towards Teddy Bridgewater, emphasizing his admiration for the quarterback. I know the coaches watched him, they had a lot of good things to say about Teddy, the new coach. We’re just going to keep everything open with the quarterback position.”
At the moment, Drew Lock is the only quarterback under contract. The Broncos have been showing tons of faith within the young quarterback Lock. They seem to want to gamble on Lock and let him develop before moving But, if a life-changing opportunity occurs they’ll jump at it. They haven’t averaged more than 23 points offensively since 2014.
Unfortunately, the days of Peyton Manning are still haunting them.
