DJ Khaled, the famous producer and rapper known for his catchy hits and collaborations with top artists, has a family feud brewing over his silence on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His cousin, Fadie Musallet, who is also a successful DJ and music producer, has cut ties with him over his lack of support for Palestine.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the longest-running and most complex disputes in the world. It involves issues of land, religion, identity, and human rights. The conflict has escalated in recent years. Violent clashes, rocket attacks, and airstrikes have resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries, mostly among Palestinians.
Fadie Musallet, who goes by the stage name DJ Fade, said in an exclusive interview that he has “cut ties” with DJ Khaled, whom he considers his “big brother”, because of his silence on the issue. He said that he was “disappointed and hurt” by DJ Khaled’s refusal to speak up for Palestine, especially since he is of Palestinian origin.

“There’s no reason, there’s no excuse when you’re a Palestinian. For me, my mother lives there. She’s in danger every day. She can’t even go to the grocery store without fearing for her life. How can you not say anything about that?”
Fadie said.
DJ Khaled, born Khaled Mohamed Khaled in New Orleans, is of Palestinian descent. He has often expressed pride in his heritage and culture but has avoided taking a political stance on the conflict. In a 2018 interview with Haaretz, an Israeli newspaper, he said,
“We want peace worldwide, so of course we want peace in Palestine. I don’t get into politics. I get into people, and the love, and peace.”
However, his silence has not gone unnoticed by his fans and critics, who have accused him of being hypocritical, cowardly, or indifferent to the plight of his fellow Palestinians. Some have even called for a boycott of his music and products, such as his popular Snapchat filter and headphones.
Fadie Musallet, on the other hand, has been vocal about his support for Palestine, both on social media and in his music. He has used his platform to raise awareness and funds for Palestinian refugees and has visited refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan. He has also collaborated with Palestinian artists, such as the rapper MC Gaza and the singer Shadia Mansour.
Fadie said he hoped DJ Khaled would change his mind and use his influence to help Palestine. He said he still loves him as a cousin and friend, but he can no longer ignore his silence.
“I respect his decision, but I disagree with it. He has a huge fan base; he has a lot of power. He could make a difference. He could save lives. He could be a hero. But he chooses not to. And that breaks my heart,”
Fadie said.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a sensitive and controversial topic. Many have different perspectives and opinions. Some celebrities, such as Rihanna, Selena Gomez, and Zayn Malik, have supported Palestine. Others, such as Gal Gadot, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Mayim Bialik, have shown solidarity with Israel. Some have tried to remain neutral or call for peace. While others have avoided the issue altogether.
