Former President Donald Trump recently praised rapper Akbar V‘s work. The Atlanta-based artist, making waves with this young lady’s raw and powerful lyrics, publicly shared the message with fans and critics.
Akbar V, whose real name is Valerie Raven, does not hide from the limelight. With her daredevil style in music and appearances on the reality show “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” she has always had a great presence within the industry. But even she wasn’t ready for this message from Trump and his team on his birthday. All it read was, “I thank you for your support. You are a great artist who I have tremendous respect for. Together we will make America great again”

Such a message from Trump came both with shock and surprise, quickly becoming one of the most unlikely combinations that could have ever been drawn to a connection between politics and hip-hop.
Akbar V doesn’t hide her opinions on many things, and her political views are no different. Many in the same line of work take more liberal stances, but Akbar V has been beyond loud about her feelings toward Donald Trump.
Akbar V has said that her political persuasion doesn’t fall into the traditional party equation. Still, she is about reaching out across party labels and really focusing on what makes a practical difference in her community. On the list of top issues Akbar V has spoken to is the Paycheck Protection Program—PPP, which Trump supported during his presidency. She has underscored how important that program is in helping small businesses and artists like herself get out of tight financial spots more easily when times are hard.
Of course, to Akbar V, the message from Trump meant much more than just praise in appreciation of hard work and talent. She felt proud enough to take to social media and share her feelings with all her followers about what praise from someone as high a profile as Trump meant for her. “I’m honored by his words,” she said, adding it was vindication for her as an artist, so often an outcast, in her estimation, both in the music world and the realm of politics.
Many have been pulling their support for oft-problematic former President Donald Trump, who is facing a staggering 13 criminal charges in Fulton County, Georgia, as part of a mounting and larger legal battle over his efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 election. Not Akbar V. In a series of Instagram Stories, the “Owe Me Something” rapper made it extremely clear that the vote for her in 2024 was already decided on.
“I don’t give a f*** who looks at me different, “I’m voting for Trump, y’all can kiss my ass. The only thing he’s motherfucking Democrats done got in here is give money to other motherfucking countries…man Trump was in the chair, man wasn’t no killing going on. Everybody was getting money.
