Besides having everyone talking about the album’s cover, his beef with Kanye West about the sampling of the song “Lift Yourself”. But there’s a lot of trouble for the singer. Over a co-writing credit which was given to alleged sexual predator R-Kelly on the song TSU.
One of Drake’s producers Noah Sheb went on social media to clear up the misunderstanding, stating:
“In the beginning, there’s a sample of OG Ron c speaking. There’s a faint background music, which happens to be an R. Kelly song,” explained the producer in the comments of an Instagram post.”The R. Kelly sample has no significance, as there are no lyrics from him in the track. His voice isn’t even present. However, we were still required to license it if we wanted to use Ron c’s talking. I must admit, it doesn’t sit well with me. I want to clarify that there is no actual involvement of R. Kelly, and it’s misleading to label him as a co-lyricist. I want to make it clear that we would never support or collaborate with someone like him. It’s absolutely repugnant.”
To be more clear, it has become a requirement for people in the creative industry to give credit. From the most minute detail in their creation because of copyright and fear of facing a lawsuit.
